“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” — Proverbs 31: 8-9
The Mission First Legal Aid Office provides legal services and spiritual counsel to underserved residents of Hinds, Rankin, and Madison Counties in Mississippi. Established in 2006, the Legal Aid Office is a partnership between MC Law and Mission First, a multi-faceted neighborhood outreach ministry. Mission First Legal Aid’s clients are individuals whose income do not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and are in need of legal representation.
With a full-time limited staff, Mission First Legal Aid serves more than 1,300 clients every year, relying on more than 200 volunteer lawyers and law school students to ensure access to justice and the courts for Mississippi's poor and underserved.Your volunteerism and pro bono service helps us narrow this gap in access to justice and provide much needed legal navigation to the complex issues facing our clients.
While the Christian faith is the driving force behind the organization, Mission First Legal Aid is non-sectarian and in no way limits its services to any race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, or any other basis other than need.
